Our most recent Lunch 'n' Learn - All About SASS - covered all things Successful Awards Submissions. Hosts Jody Paulson (CSEP and Immediate Past President of the ILEA Edmonton Chapter), Nela Kovacovic (M.A., CMP and VP Membership with ILEA Edmonton Chapter), and Caitlin McElhone (BSc., CMP and Past President of the Chapter) were on hand to share their personal journey and answer questions participants had about the process.

A few handy dandy tips were provided:
  • Follow the rules - if it asks for a word count, stay within it.
  • Plan ahead - you have to decide in advance if an event is one you may submit for awards consideration.
  • Get your clients buy in and/or approval, and plan accordingly.
  • Set SMART goals and objectives - providing analytics with your submission is a must.
  • REVIEW, EDIT & REVIEW AGAIN - have a colleague or friend read your submission, the more the merrier. Get one to edit spelling and grammar, one to focus on the story telling and vision and one to ensure you have answered every question outlined in submission and/or judging criteria and if you have it.
